Fifteen Years' Experience

I am a professional freelance copy editor with fifteen years' experience as a writing teacher and freelance editor.

My years of teaching have helped me develop the patience, empathy, and compassion to work with a range of clients and the versatility to adjust to their specific editing needs. In particular, my background working with international clients had helped me develop a keen eye for plain language usage and the needs of a linguistically diverse target audience.

I have a masters in English Literature from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Campaign and a copyediting certificate from the University of Chicago, Graham School.

Having lived and worked abroad for ten years, I have a unique understanding of the challenges faced by non-native speakers of English and specialize in clients whose first language is Spanish, French, or Japanese.

On a personal level, when I’m not editing, I like dancing of all sorts, reading long beautiful prose, and getting as much Vitamin N (time in nature) as possible.
